Dogs weren’t made for pavement—and let’s be honest, neither were you. At Arf Road Dog Hiking, we help Portland pups reconnect with their wild side, one trail at a time. Based in Southeast Portland, we offer full-hour guided off-leash hikes through real trails—forest romps, creek dips, and stick obsessions included.

 

Our founder built one of the largest pet care companies in New York State—Pets a Go Go—before selling it in 2023 and moving to Portland to build something smaller, wilder, and more personal. After training with Cesar Millan to master the art of pack dynamics in 1998, she and her husband Jason launched Camp Arf Road as a boutique dog hiking company that’s equal parts off-leash adventure and nostalgic summer camp.

 

We’re two humans on every walk, treating dogs like campers—mud, mischief, memories, and all. Because honestly? We never wanted to grow up, and dogs get that.

 

Whether your dog needs a solo escape or wants to join a pack, we’ve got a trail for them. We believe in freedom, fresh air, and the kind of joy that only happens when a dog finally ditches the sidewalk for the woods.

Every hike is guided by a trained trail counselor (hi, it’s me!) with a background in **pet first aid and dog behavior**. Safety isn’t a bullet point—it’s the base layer of every adventure we lead. Our off-leash test walks ensure every dog is ready to be part of the pack before they join a hike.

No more than 6-10 dogs per group. Period. This means more attention, better recall, deeper bonds, and less chaos on the trail. Whether it’s a creek scramble or a fern-filled forest loop, every dog gets the space and supervision they deserve.

 

🚐 We Pick Up. We Hike Hard. We Drop Off Tired & Happy.

 

We come to you, leash up your pup, and bring them back with muddy paws, tired eyes, and a huge grin. Every dog gets a towel-off post-hike so they return home refreshed (and less filthy).

We hike rain or shine—unless Mother Nature throws down something truly gnarly. Our vans are prepped, our trails are scouted, and we love a good puddle party. If conditions are unsafe, we’ll always let you know and reschedule with care.
