Sidewalks are fine. But forests are divine.
Off-leash dog hiking in Portland, Oregon.

Welcome to Camp Arf Road—a nature-first dog hiking service for Portland pups who crave more than laps around the block. We offer guided, off-leash hikes on real trails where dogs can run, sniff, swim, and live their best lives. We pick them up, hike them hard, and bring them back better.

We’re a locally run, off-leash small pack dog hiking service

based in Southeast Portland, offering full-hour guided

adventures through real trails—forest romps, creek dips,

mud puddles, stick obsessions, and all. Whether your

dog needs a solo escape or wants to join the pack, we’ve

got a trail for them.

Hi, I'm Larie.

I didn't start this because I love dogs. I started it because I understand them.

After training in Los Angeles with Cesar Millan, I built a dog hiking and pet care company in New York City from the ground up. Twenty staff. Over 1,000 dogs a month. Walks, training, boarding — all of it. I grew it into something real, something other people saw value in, and I sold it.

I know what a big operation looks like from the inside. And I know exactly why I didn't want to build that again.

Because no matter how much we expanded — no matter how many staff, how many bookings, how many zip codes we covered — one thing never changed. The dogs were always happiest on the trail. Moving together. Off-leash. Breathing real air. Being fully, completely what they are.

That's where I felt it too.

There's something that happens when dogs are outside, moving as a pack, thinking and exploring and just being dogs. It's calmer. It's natural. It works in a way that no amount of backyard time or leash walks ever will. I've seen it thousands of times and it never gets old.

When I moved to Portland, I knew I wanted to start again — but not the same way. I didn't want big. I wanted better.

So I took the back seats out of my Jeep and built Arf Road.

I keep my packs small — five dogs at a time, always — because every dog deserves to be seen, understood, and known. Not managed. Known. I learn their personalities, their quirks, what makes them light up on a climb and what slows them down near water. I learn what they're afraid of and what makes them brave.

Over time I become what every dog deserves.

Their favorite part of the week.

This isn't a dog walking service. It's structure, freedom, play, and purpose — all in one. We trade sidewalks for trailheads and city noise for pine needles and paw prints. We pick them up, hike them hard, and bring them back muddy, tired, and thrilled with life.

Because sidewalks are fine.

Forest is divine.

Dog in Nature

WHY ARF ROAD COSTS MORE THAN A DOG WALKER.

A $20 dog walk is someone taking your dog around the block on a leash.

What we do is different. Your dog gets picked up in a purpose-built hiking vehicle, taken to a real trail, and run off-leash — in a pack, in nature, the way their body and brain were actually designed to move.

They come home physically tired, mentally settled, and genuinely happy in a way a leash walk cannot produce.

We keep groups small on purpose. We know every dog by name, temperament, and what trail makes them come alive. You get a report card after every single hike.

This isn't dog walking. This is the best day of your dog's week.

SERVICE 1

THE PACK HIKE

Five dogs. One trail. Zero leashes. $75 · 1 Hour ·

Tuesday & Thursdays

Morning departure: 9–10am pickup

Your dog joins a tight pack of five — max, always — for a fully off-leash guided hike through Portland's best trail systems. Not a dog park. Not a neighborhood loop. A real trail, rotating weekly, with terrain that actually challenges them.

Creeks to splash through. Forest floors to sniff. Hills to climb. Room to run.We rotate trails every week — Forest Park, Powell Butte, Oxbow Regional Park — and theme days keep it fresh. Stream Crossing Thursdays. Fern Frenzy Fridays. Mud Monday when it's been raining and honestly those are the best ones.

Every hike includes:

✓ Pickup and dropoff from your home ✓ 1 hour of off-leash trail time

✓ 5 dogs maximum — always

âœ“ Post-hike video sent to you same day

✓ Water and trail snacks on trail

Add-ons:

  • Hose-Down & Towel-Off before dropoff — $10

  • Summer Pup Cream Stop — $15

Is my dog ready for pack hikes? Dogs need to be comfortable off-leash and social with other dogs. Not sure? That's what the free meet and greet is for. We figure it out together before anyone hits the trail.

SERVICE 2

Adventure Days

 $95 · 3-Hour Adventure ·

Every MON - WED - FRI

This is the one they'll talk about all week.

We load up and leave the city entirely. Alpine meadows. Waterfall trails. River beaches. Locations that rotate

Three full hours in total - Not a park. Not a greenway. The kind of landscape that makes a dog remember they're an animal.

We keep this to 5 dogs maximum. Not 6. Not 7 Five. Because these are longer, more remote trails and every dog gets real attention out there.

Every Adventure Day includes:

✓ Pickup and dropoff — could be up to 4 hours with pick up and drop off

✓ 2 hours min of off-leash hiking in rotating wild locations

✓ 5 dogs maximum — period

âœ“ Water and trail snacks provided

✓ Post-hike video sent same day

Add-ons:

  • Hose-Down & Towel-Off — $10

  • Pup Cup Stop $15

  •

Honest note on the price: Is it that much money for an adventure day when most Portland dog daycares charge the same for a full day of your dog sitting in a room with 30 other dogs. Your dog gets 3 hours running free through a waterfall trail with 3 friends. The math makes sense.

In-Home Boarding |

$150/night |

1 dogs per Night ONLY

This isn’t a kennel. This is a full-on “your dog goes on

vacation while you do” situation.

When your dog stays with me, they’re not just hanging out

in a house all day. They’re getting real adventure. Pack hikes,

fresh air, running trails, sniffing everything they weren’t

allowed to sniff before… and coming home happy, tired,

and fulfilled.

During the day, your dog joins me on hikes (tailored to their energy and personality), and at night they settle in like

one of my own. Couch snuggles, cozy spots, calm energy.

No crates unless you request it. No chaos. Just a safe,

structured, loving environment.

Why $150/night?
Because this is not basic pet sitting. They are basically my adopted dogs for the duration of your vacation. This is enrichment, exercise, structure, and one-on-one attention.

You’re getting a trained pack leader, years of experience,

and a dog that comes home better than you left them

(in the best way).

This is for dogs who deserve more than a quick walk and

a food bowl refill. This is for dogs who get to live a little while you’re away.
